SYNOPSIS

To mitigate the frequent flooding near KM 21.6 of Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) of Putrajaya bound and at IOI Mall open-air carpark, Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya [MBSJ] together with IOI Properties Group Sdn Bhd [IOI] and Lingkaran Transkota Sdn Bhd (LITRAK) have implemented a flood mitigation project by upgrading the drainage system in the vicinity to divert part of the peak flood discharge from the upstream catchment and discharging to the existing mining pond near the IOI Mall.

The project scope include installation of 114m length of3.6m x 2.85m and 90m length of 3.6m x 3.0m box culvert parallel to LDP highway by cut and cover method and installation of a triple 1.5m diameter reinforced pipe culvert by pipe jacking method (slurry method) across the LDP highway at KM 21.5 . The project duration is 8 months and currently is 83 % completion.

The technical talk will highlight the technical issues encountered and the remedial measures taken to overcome the obstacles and alternative design adopted in implementation of the project.The project is schedule to complete by end of April 2025.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Speaker 1: Ir. Ts. Neo Boon Kheng

Ir Neo Boon Kheng is a fellow member of Institutions of Engineer Malaysia [IEM] ,registered Professional Engineer (P. Eng) with Practising Certificate with Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He is a fellow member of Academy of Engineering and Technology of the Developing World [AETDEW] He was past chairman of Tunneling & Underground Space Technical Division and has been actively serving in TUSTD since year 2000 in various capacity. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Civil Engineering and Master of Science in Engineering from Southern Illinois University USA. Currently he is pursuing his Doctorate at University Technology Malaysia.[UTM]

He has 35 years of working experiences in Consultant and Contractor environment. He specialize in infrastructure and underground projects. He spends 18 years involve in underground infrastructure projects and geotechnical engineering works and 15 years working in consultant office as designer and resident engineer. He has involved in the construction of a 3.8 meter diameter sewer in Kuala Lumpur, a project funded by JBIC in year 2000.

In 2010, he joined PDP UTEK [M] Sdn Bhd as Project Director oversee the infra structure projects including turnkey sewerage treatment plant and underground structure projects. In 2019 he partnered with a consultant in Timor Leste to design a 20 km stretch highway , a project funded by World Bank. . He was appointed as a turnkey consultant for a 900mm diameter PUB water pipe diversion for the Rail Transit Singapore [RTS] project in Johor Baharu in year 2022.


Speaker 2: Zufri bin Mustapha

Ir Zufri bin Mustapha, a Professional Engineer, graduated with Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from California State University ,Chico, USA. He is currently a prinsipal of ZARY Associates, an engineering consultancy firm established in 1995 ,a company offers a wide range of professional services which includes Projects Inception Stage, Feasibility Studies, Preliminary and Detailed Engineering Design, Pre-Contract to Post-Contract, Project Management, Administration and Site Supervision.

He has over 30 years working experiences in the project management, design office and supervision works. He had extensive experiences in a multitude and wide spectrum of developments including :
•   Commercial / Office Buildings, Residential Development, Institutional Buildings, Mix Developments, Hospital, Factory, Drainage Works, Water Supply Works, Sewerage Works, Telecommunication Tower, Billboard & Roads & Bridges
