SYNOPSIS
Inland water transport is part of 4 major transport modes namely road. Rail, air and water transport. This is a natural mode of transport in the form of river or canal transportation system. One of the advantages using of IWTS is its economies of scale while its impact toward environment is minimum. It estimated that 95% of world cargo moves on IWTS. Many parts of the world including USA, Europe, etc still served by IWTS Malaysia too, given an opportunity may be able to develop and use part of its IWTS for cargo, leisure, tourism or even passenger transportation.
