SYNOPSIS

While we are increasingly relying on electricity on our daily activities, have you ever wonder what are the key power generation technologies adopted in our country as well as globally?

With the growing concern on global warming, many countries have revisited the fuel mix in their power generation sector and embark on transitioning into more renewable energy sources, promoting sustainable practices in the sector. Many have hoped that renewable energy will emerge as the main resource for electricity generation and to reshape the electricity supply industry. Will this be possible in the near future?

This talk aims to provide a platform to discuss on the various power generation technologies available in the country as well as the viable renewable resources that could be adopted.  


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Ir. Fam Yew Hin

Ir. Fam Yew Hin is a Registered Professional Engineer in Malaysia. Graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Sheffield, Ir. Fam has served in various capacity in the national electricity company (TNB), Energy Commission of Malaysia, MyPOWER Corporation, international independent power producers as well as in consultancy company.  

Currently, Ir. Fam Yew Hin is the Board Member of the Board of Engineers Malaysia as well as the Board Member of the Board of Quantity Surveyor Malaysia. He is the Vice President and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Information and Publications Committee in IEM. Ir. Fam is also currently the Chairman of the Corporate Communications Committee of BEM.
