SYNOPSIS
Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) and Nature-Based Infrastructure (NBI) offer sustainable approaches to addressing environmental challenges in the maritime industry. These solutions leverage natural processes, such as mangrove restoration and eco-engineered shorelines, to enhance coastal resilience, improve biodiversity, and mitigate climate change impacts. Compared to conventional infrastructure, NBS and NBI provide cost-effective, long-term benefits while promoting ecological sustainability. Despite challenges like policy gaps and financial constraints, growing global and regional efforts highlight the potential for wider adoption. This presentation will explore key NBS applications in maritime operations, successful case studies, and policy recommendations to drive future implementation.
