SYNOPSIS

•   Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) is a public transit project aiming to transform
     road transport system in Kuching urban areas.
•   The project is also aimed at reducing the traffic congestion in Urban part of Kuching.
•   In line with Sarawak’s government vision to decarbonise the transportation system, the
     rollingstock system employs hydrogen as primary power for the Hydrogen Vehicle (H2V)
•   A large part of the alignment is running in dedicated lane, at grade with some mixed traffic
     intersections.
•   The project is now at construction phase with the first phase launch is being planned by end
     2025


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

Mr. Zulhairy Kamaruzaman

Mr. Zulhairy Kamaruzaman is currently the Project Manager for Opus Consultants (M) Sdn Bhd engaging as system consultant to Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd, KUTS project implementer. He has more than 25 years of work experience in rail system design; primarily in rolling stock. His area of expertise is the propulsion system and vehicle control system. Apart from the rail system, his past work as a control system engineer, give him invaluable experience in system related startups.He has been working with KUTS since early inception in 2021.
