In Conjunction with World Engineering Day Celebration from 1st March till 7th March 2025
SYNOPSIS
In PETRONAS, Sustainability is deeply rooted in the company’s Statement of Purpose, as “a progressive energy and solutions partner enriching lives for a sustainable future”. As a purpose-driven organisation, Sustainability considerations contribute directly to what it does as a business. The energy landscape is rapidly changing, and PETRONAS recognises the urgency to accelerate and scale up action towards a low carbon energy future.
Sustainability is embedded in the PETRONAS Energy Transition Strategy. PETRONAS’ Net Zero Carbon Emission 2050 pathway consists of short, midterm and long-term targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) and methane emissions for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction. The Pathway is two-pronged, reducing operational GHG emissions and increasing investments in business growth opportunities in the low carbon economy. PETRONAS will implement activities through four main Decarbonisation levers – zero routine flaring and venting, energy efficiency, electrification and carbon capture and storage (CCS) – to reduce operational emissions as far as possible and offset remaining hard-to-abate emissions with nature-based climate solutions.
PETRONAS continues to build internal capability and capacity and to enhance transparency in navigating the energy transition and promotes collaboration to accelerate and scale up the delivery in support of the Net Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 pathway.
