SYNOPSIS
Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is a tool that is used to measure consumption or usage either electricity, gas or water and etc in a smart and efficient way. Meter unit has evolved from analogue meter to digitalized meter to help with monitor usage, efficiency and increase the accuracy compared to analogue meter. Typical meter requires manual reading or input from customer/meter reader into the provider website. Due to difficulties of getting accurate meter management therefore Advance Metering Infrastructure (AMI) is introduced to help both customer and provider. There is wide range of smart meter implementations across the world designed to suit the geographic and network distribution of the provider. This talk covers both technical aspects and implementation in Malaysia and other regions for utilities scale.
