SYNOPSIS
Ministry of health hospitals have managed to saved RM61.98mil/year ( 16.4%) reduction in energy bills and counting through implementation of sustainable energy management program. The savings are verified figures as the data were verified by Malaysia Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) when MOH adopted energy Management Gold Standard (EMGS) certification as the system to ensure the energy management practice is sustainable. The program has been implemented since 2016. Since then majority of the government hospitals have received a 3 Star certification that proved that the hospitals have been able to develop a sustainable energy management culture and maintain the energy consumption. From the efforts, many hospitals have achieved recognition from the National Energy Awards and ASEAN Energy Award for an excellence performance in management. The speaker was the country experts for the ASEAN Energy Management Accreditation Scheme (AEMAS) that is instrumental in training and assessing the program shall share the experience in developing energy management program especially in the government hospitals.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Al-Khairi Mohd Daud
Ir Al-Khairi Mohd Daud from Faqeh Management has more than 18 years’ experience in designing, operating and maintaining hospitals. He has audited and help hospital to improve the facilities management process for public and private hospitals. He is a surveyor and a member of Malaysian Society for Quality in Health where he has assisted to draft standards on Biomedical, Engineering and Safety Management. He is also a Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) and a Professional Energy Manager under ASEAN Centre of Energy AEMAS program. He is currently the chairman for IEM Building Services Technical Division.
