SYNOPSIS
The IEM Guideline on Simplified ESG Disclosure for the Built Environment focuses on the three critical pillars Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) that steer companies in the built environment industry toward sustainable and ethical operations. ESG within this context involves a set of strategies supported by a structured action plan and transparent communication regarding the outcomes. These strategies are pivotal in generating comprehensive reports that initiate the development of a sustainability strategy. This strategy enables companies in the built environment to set objectives, monitor progress, and address sustainability-related impacts and challenges.
This guideline provides companies with a clear process to align their operations with sustainability goals. It aids in identifying and addressing non-financial risks and opportunities that are integral to a company's daily activities. By adopting this approach, companies can gain a comprehensive view of sustainability and corporate responsibility, ensuring that they not only meet regulatory standards but also contribute positively to environmental preservation, social well-being, and ethical governance. This holistic approach is crucial for shaping the future of the built environment, making it more resilient, sustainable, and attuned to the needs of both society and the planet.
