SYNOPSIS

The talk will focus on sharing experiences regarding common technical and operational risks and constraints that may arise during pile injection work, as well as lessons learned from injection pile foundations. Additionally, the webinar will cover various important factors to consider in foundation design. These factors include, but are not limited to: the readiness of a firm and flat working platform, space clearance, height constraints, site access clearance for transportation considering machine sizes, pile injection force, pile type, pile size/diameter, soil and rock profile, depth of hard layers and bedrock, among others. During the construction stage, precautionary measures such as the adoption of GPS systems, employing a full-time surveyor, and platform strengthening works to enhance pile setting out and asbuilt conditions while operating machinery on weak soil will also be discussed.

Ir. Tan Teng Hau is a distinguished Professional Engineer with a Practicing Certificate (PEPC) and holds the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) designation, registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) since 2023. Besides, he is the member of the Malaysia Geotechnical Society (MGS). Currently serving as a committee member for the Geotechnical Engineering Technical Division for Session 2024/2025, Ir. Tan graduated from the University of Malaya in 2012 with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering.

With over 12 years of experience in Malaysia's piling industry, Ir. Tan Teng Hau is a highly motivated professional. His expertise lies in deep foundation alternative design and project management. Possessing a robust background in practical site operations, project management, and extensive knowledge of various piling systems including Injection pile, driven pile, bored pile, and micro pile, he remains dedicated to advancing industry development and contributing to its ongoing success. Currently, he holds the position of Technical Manager at Jack-In Pile (M) Sdn Bhd.
