SYNOPSIS

This programme delves into the fundamentals of 5G technology, exploring its architecture, key requirements, capabilities, applications, and the innovations that power it. It also examines 5G from the perspective of mobile spectrum and relevant standards. Additionally, the program discusses the vast opportunities unlocked by 5G, while acknowledging the challenges faced in its deployment within Malaysia.

The objectives of the program are:

i.   To equip participants with the fundamental understanding of the core principles underlying
     5G technology.
ii.  To describe the different components of a 5G network, including its core network and the radio
     access network (RAN).
iii. To guide participants to identify the key features and benefits of 5G technology compared to
     previous generations.


BIODATA OF SPEAKER

1. Ir. SURESH KUMAR KANDASAMY

Ir. Suresh Kumar Kandasamy is a registered Professional Engineer with over 20 years of experience in the Telecommunication industry, specializing in Fiber Optics, RF Network Planning, Optimization, Network Implementation, Project Management, and Technical Vocational Education. He holds a Master of Science degree by Research from University Kebangsaan Malaysia, Faculty of Electrical, Electronics and System Engineering (2005), and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering (Hons) from University Science of Malaysia (2000). He is also a Certified Trainer the Trainer (TTT) from HRDF. Suresh Kumar has successfully managed large-scale projects with industry-leading vendors such as Ericsson, Nokia, ZTE, and Motorola, as well as major Mobile Network Operators including Maxis, Celcom, and Digi. His professional interests include 5G technology, emerging technologies, business strategies, management, and business development. He is currently with Telecommunication Engineering College (TEC) and TEC Telecom Sdn Bhd.


2. DR. PUTERI NADIAH SYAMIMI

Dr. Syamimi holds a Ph.D. in Radar Communication Engineering (2023), a Bachelor's Degree in Electronic System Engineering (2019), and a Diploma in Electronic Engineering (2016), all from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

Currently, Dr. Syamimi serves as a Technical Trainer at Telecommunication Engineering College (TEC), specializing in 5G Cellular Communication. She also delivering talks at universities about Qualcomm’s 5G Associate-level certifications. Her engagements with Malaysian Technical Standards Forum Bhd (MTSFB) on IMT & Future Networks (IFN), IoT, and C-V2X Subworking Groups promotes knowledge transfer and collaboration in 5G Research and Development.
