SYNOPSIS
This webinar explores the fundamentals of fission power reactors, discusses the current status of nuclear power development in Malaysia, and highlights the crucial roles engineers play in ensuring its safe and successful deployment. Firstly, we delve into the fundamentals of fission power reactors, exploring the principles and technologies that drive nuclear power generation. This lecture will cover the core concepts of nuclear fission, different reactor designs, and the critical safety systems in place to ensure safe operation. Secondly, we examine the current status of nuclear power development in Malaysia, highlighting the nation's progress, challenges, and future plans in adopting nuclear energy as a sustainable power source. We shall also highlight why Malaysia may consider pursuing nuclear power again. Thirdly, we emphasize the pivotal roles that engineers can play in the safe and successful deployment of nuclear power. Through fostering expertise, adhering to stringent safety standards, and advocating for robust regulatory measures, engineers are integral to ensuring the secure and efficient integration of nuclear energy into Malaysia's energy landscape. In summary, this session offers valuable insights into Malaysia’s nuclear energy future.
