We'll discuss the scientific basis of global warming, effective decarbonization strategies like renewable energy and carbon capture, and the critical role of ESG in fostering sustainable and ethical business practices. Through case studies and actionable steps, attendees will learn how to integrate these approaches to drive significant environmental impact, enhance corporate responsibility, and achieve long-term sustainability.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
1. Ir. Dr Chua Kein Huat, UTAR
Ir. Dr. Chua has been actively engaged in knowledge dissemination through conducting over 200 training sessions and workshops across Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea in the past 14 years. Recognized for his expertise, he is an accredited trainer by the HRDC and holds certifications as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) and Registered Electrical Energy Manager (REEM) conferred by the Energy Commission (Suruhanjaya Tenaga) since 2016.
Presently, Ir. Dr. Chua serves as an Associate Professor at the esteemed Lee Kong Chian Faculty of Engineering, UTAR. His research endeavors primarily revolve around crucial domains such as carbon accounting, energy management, energy audit, energy storage systems, and power systems. Demonstrating his commitment to academia, he concurrently holds the prestigious position of Chairperson at the Center for Railway Infrastructure and Engineering (CRIE) within UTAR.
Recently, Ir. Dr. Chua has won the Energy Professional Development Award for AEE’s 2024 Regional Awards – Asia Pacific Rim Region. The Association of Energy Engineers is a nonprofit professional society with over 18,000 members in more than 100 countries. Being honored with this award (Asia Pacific Rim Region) is a significant professional milestone and provides an exceptional opportunity for both personal and professional growth.
2. Mr. Stephen Ewe, TM GLOBAL
Stephen Ewe overlooks the Data Centre Product Development and Management portfolio at Telekom Malaysia Berhad. Passionate about being part of the force in driving innovation in Data Centres development and operations towards a more sustainable Data Centre industry. He is a practitioner of the Uptime Institute and TIA-942 standards for Data Centres and is Accredited Tier Professional (ATP) and Certified TIA-942 Design Consultant (CTDC).
He holds a Bsc (Hons) in Computing Information System from University of Lincoln, UK and MBA from the Imperial College of London. In recent years we are seeing a massive build up of data centres in Malaysia. This have caused a strain in our electricity and water supply. This session will focus on the current data centre mechanical and electrical design I see employed today in the industry and how the changing of the workloads continues to drives its evolution with a focus on the environment. Join me in this journey of getting to know the data centre industry better.
