Introduction SWaM 2024 is the fourth in the series of National conferences organised by the Malaysian Stormwater Organisation (MSO) which focuses on managing stormwater runoff in terms of quality and quantity.
SWaM 2024 will emphasize on the aspect of climate resiliency of stormwater management, taking into account, the latest climate change factors which has brough about adverse impacts to the Country. Climate resilience is about successfully coping and managing the impacts of climate change while preventing those impacts from growing worse. A climate-resilient society would be low-carbon and equipped to deal with the realities of a climate-challenged world. The 5 pillars of climate resilience consist of threshold capacity, coping capacity, recovery capacity, adaptive capacity and transformative capacity. Stormwater green infrastructure, nature-based solutions and sustainable drainage systems can be examples of solutions available to future-proof these problems
Objective
1. To disseminate information to stakeholders on the importance of stormwater management resiliency for future developments; 2. To promote latest approaches in stormwater management for climate resiliency.
