SYNOPSIS
This seminar intends to give aspiring fresh graduate/ junior traffic & road engineers or transport planners an overview of traffic & transportation planning and highway engineering design software. Using the software is essential for civil engineers involved in planning, designing, and managing highways and any transportation projects. These software programs can help engineers improve transportation infrastructure's safety, efficiency, and environmental impact.
Transportation & traffic planning software is a type of software that helps transportation planners and engineers to plan, design, and manage transportation networks. This software can be used to:
a. Data analysis: Transportation & traffic planning software can be used to analyze traffic data. This data can be used to identify trends, improve traffic flow, and make informed decisions about transportation planning. b. Visualization: Transportation & traffic planning software can be used to create realistic visualizations of transportation networks. This can be used to communicate traffic conditions to stakeholders and to improve public understanding of transportation issues. c. Integration with other software: Transportation & traffic planning software can be integrated with other software, such as GIS software and asset management software. BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Ts. Syed Khairi Syed Abbas holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours (2009) and a Master's in Civil Engineering (2012). He is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and a Professional Technologist with the Malaysian Board of Technologists (MBOT). He is a Corporate Member of the Institute of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). He has been actively involved as a Committee Member in the Highway Transportation Engineering Technical Division (HTETD, IEM) since 2015. With over 14 years of working experience, he has spent 7+ years in the academic sector, focusing on management, administration, research, programme accreditation, teaching, and learning activities. Additionally, he has accumulated over 7+ years of industry engineering practice in civil engineering, particularly in traffic, highway, and transportation planning.
Mr. Kughanathan's impressive 20-year tenure at Astasoft Sdn Bhd is a testament to his unwavering commitment to providing exceptional customer service. As the Director of Sales and Customer Support, he has leveraged his expertise in road design, software customization, and engineering applications to build and manage high- performing sales teams. His ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships has helped solidify Astasoft's position as a leader in the industry. With a B.Eng (Civil) Hons degree from USM in 2002, Mr. Kughanathan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to every project he undertakes.
Fatin `Amirah Azmi graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Geomatics Science (Hons.) from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in 2012. With a career spanning approximately 12+ years, she has gained extensive experience in the transportation and traffic planning field. Throughout these years, she actively participated in various traffic and transportation planning projects, focusing on conducting Traffic Impact Assessment (TIA) studies and Transport & Highway Master Plan studies. Fatin `Amirah has also developed and implemented macro-simulation models using the EMME software. Her proficiency in using this software has allowed her to contribute to the accurate modelling and analysis of transportation systems. She is dedicated to utilizing her expertise to optimize traffic flow, improve transportation networks, and enhance overall transportation efficiency.
