SYNOPSIS
Wide array of geotechnical instruments is being used for construction project, in land and offshore contexts for better control of the process. This also helped to ensure safety. The current norm is to manually conduct measurement and collect data. This can be extremely slow and less efficient. This research involved the development of a Robotic Integrated Total System (RITS) to fully automate the collection, compilation, and analysis of instrumentation data for site monitoring. This system consists of a tracked robotic surveyor and an auto linear movement data capturing device.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Dr Henry Tan is currently the Technical Director for Geonamics (S) Pte. Ltd. He has been involved in various instrumentation projects, especially in land reclamation related projects. Dr Tan continuously embarks on research projects that are related to ground improvement, and geotechnical instrumentations. Besides instrumentation, he is also involved in other research, such as geothermal deep slimhole drilling works, soil sintering, and geotextile materials testing.
