SYNOPSIS
Incremental climate conditions induced by global warming poses an existential challenge to humankind and the world. Climate Risk Assessment (CRA) has increasingly been used by companies, investors, insurance companies, financial institutions in managing climate risks arising from detrimental climate impact.This talk will focus on physical climate risks, by introducing the fundamental on scenario analysis using a Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) and Shared Socioeconomic Pathways (SSP) established by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). The talk will also present the expectations by Bursa on climate risk financial disclosure for all listed companies and the application of CRA to support climate risk financial disclosure.

Mr. Ng Hon Seng
Mr. Ng has more than 25 years of experience in ESG and sustainability consulting. He was formerly the Secretary General of the Business Council for Sustainability and Responsibility Malaysia (BCSRM), a local chapter of World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD). During his tenure, he led and co-hosted seminars to elevate the level of awareness and understanding of Malaysian companies on ESG,especially in the space of Task force for Climate-Related Financial Disclosure (TCFD), sustainable supply chain, dialogues with various authorities such as Bursa, Securities Commissions, Ministry of Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change (MESTECC) and leading local and international corporations operating in Malaysia. Mr. Ng specializes in Greenhouse Gas Inventory and Reporting, as well as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), he was trained on the inaugural ISO14000 series sponsored by UNDP/JICA, which comprised of ISO14001 environmental management system (EMS), EMS audits, LCA, Eco-Labelling etc., and started practicing since 1990s. He was formerly the principal consultant to the Department of Environment (DOE) and the Asian Environmental compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Japan’s Institute for Global Environmental Strategies(IGES) on various environmental related policies support.
