SYNOPSIS

Water storage tanks can be broadly categorized into 2 types for potable and non-potable water. The choice of non-potable water would be broader however Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) would mandate certain type of tank, for example Bomba accepts only metal tank.

As for the potable water tank, SPAN does list out the approved types of storage tanks, in this respect reference must be made to SPAN website to get the latest approved type. Under the current technological advancement, new products can be listed in SPAN website. Under most circumstances there will be SIRIM approval certificate to support the listing.

The tanks with SIRIM approval would have met the various Malaysian Standards or International Standards hence ensuring these tanks are deemed to be safe to store particularly potable water.
The visit allows Engineers to have a better understanding on the various types of tank and the cost differences from different manufacturers. During the visit Engineers would learn and then know how to specify water storage tank in the tender documents.

• SAFETY REMINDER : Participants shall be well-equipped with their own PPE equipment,
   i.e. safety helmet, safety vest and safety boots in order to be allowed access into the site.
• Transport - Transportation provided (please arrive before transport depart from IEM)
• Participants is requested to have their own breakfast before the visit
• The visit is strictly limited to 20 participants registered on a first-come, first-served basis or once the visit
   reaches its limit number of participants. No additional participants or late registration shall be entertained.
