OVERVIEW
The objective of this seminar is to stress the importance of achieving energy sustainability as one of the way forward to conserve our environment. This seminar will cover the various types of renewable energy and explain on why certain types of renewable energy are less feasible locally to be utilised at this stage. Following that, this seminar will cover the major renewable energies that have been well developed and utilise locally, viz Solar Energy, Hydropower and the newly developed hydrogen as source of renewable energy. The seminar will also cover the types of technologies available to harness and distribute these renewable energies. The audience will be briefed on the current government policies, initiatives and incentives to promote the wider usage of renewable energy. Energy management as well as energy efficiency techniques will also be presented and discussed to facilitate further enhancement the process of efficient energy consumption with the aim of achieving ultimate energy sustainability goal.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
1) Pn. Norhasliza Binti Mohd Mokhtar Senior Director of Climate Action Group Malaysian Green Technology And Climate Change Corporation (MGTC)
Throughout her 21-year tenure at MGTC, Pn. Norhasliza has been involved in various key initiatives of the organisation. She has led the development of the Green Technology Master Plan, Green Tax Incentives (Investment Tax Allowance & Income Tax Exemption), the study on Clean Development Mechanism and GHG Inventory in 2014 to 2015, and oversaw the implementation of ASEAN Energy Management Scheme (AEMAS) Energy Management Gold Standard. She has also led the development of various states’ green initiatives such as the Kedah Green Agenda and Selangor Green Action Plan, and assisted organisations in going green by developing their respective green roadmap and action plans.
2) Mr. Saiful Hakim Abdul Rahman Director of Strategy Planning Division, Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia
Mr. Saiful Hakim bin Abdul Rahman has been in the utility and energy related business for over 28 years. En. Saiful Hakim obtained his Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from University of Brighton, United Kingdom in 1993 and MBA (Strategic Management) from Aston University, United Kingdom in 2011. During his MBA time he also attended Audencia Business School, Nantes in France for lectures
3) Ir. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lim Boon Han Lecturer, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)
Ir. Dr. Lim Boon Han is an associate professor in Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia. He obtained his Bachelor of Electrical Enginering (first class honours) from University Technology of Malaysia in 1998. Then, he pursued his PhD study in the same university under the supervision of a professor from Cambirdge University. He obtained Doctor of Philosophy in Optical Engineering, majoring in Solar Energy Technology and Laser Optics. He holds both titles for Professional Engineer (BEM) and Chartered Engineer (UK Engineering Council). He is also a Member of Institution of Engineers Malaysia (MIEM)
4) Mr. Robert Hardin Chief Executive Officer, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) Energy
Mr. Robert Hardin is the Chief Executive Officer of SEDC Energy Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). SEDC Energy has been tasked to undertake the development of downstream oil & gas as well as the new energy by the Sarawak Government. Robert has been with SEDC Energy since its coroporation in 2019, after almost 2 decades with PETRONAS in various division
5) Ts. En. Steve Anthony Lojuntin Director of Technical Development and Facilitation Division, Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia
Ts. En. Steve Anthony Lojuntin currently the Director of Energy Demand Management Division, which responsible on the planning, implementation and monitoring of activities and programs related to energy management initiatives under SEDA Malaysia. He received an honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Malaya in 1997, an energy manager by practice and a qualified Green Building Index Facilitator (GBIF) and committee member of the Malaysia Energy Professional Association (MEPA). Ts. En. Steve Anthony Lojuntin currently the Director of Technical Development and Facilitation Division, which responsible on conducting significant service-related functions in the field of sustainable energy.
