SYNOPSIS
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Aeronautics Laboratory (UTM Aerolab) is a one of UTM research centre that focusses on aerospace, automotive, wind engineering, research activities, industrial consultation and support on educational development in UTM. The main facility is a low speed wind tunnel (UTM-LST) with a maximum wind speed of 290 km/h with an excellent flow qualities. The laboratory aims to be the focal point and centre of excellence in wind tunnel testing in Malaysia and the Asia-Pacific region. The laboratory is accredited under MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 in 2021. This laboratory has registered with Subsonic Aerodynamic Testing Association (SATA) since 2002. The talk will further discuss the challenges and opportunities in operating this laboratory.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Associate Professor Dr. Ir. Shabudin Bin Mat obtained his Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering from UTM, Malaysia in 1997. He then continued his Master in ENSICA, France in 1998. He obtained his PhD in low speed aerodynamics from the University of Glasgow in 2010. He was the VFE-2 panel from 2005 – 2010 where he was introduced to delta wing aerodynamics. He has published more than 40 papers in the field of aerodynamics of delta wing. He is currently supervising students in experimental aerodynamics and wind engineering. Currently he is the Director of UTM Aerolab, one of UTM Centre of excellent. Dr. Shabudin Bin mat also is registered professional Engineer with Malaysian Board of Engineer (BEM) and United Kingdom Chartered Engineers.
