SYNOPSIS
In order to ensure sustainable development to be carried out in this country, the policies, rules and guidelines that have been prepared by the authorities or government agencies should be inline and implementable. One of the rules and guidelines that must be adhered to by other professions like architects, engineers as well as other professional bodies within the aspects of urban planning should start with familiarisation and awareness with the discipline. Among the main aspects of urban planning relates to compliance, control and permission processes related to the provisions of the development plan of an area.Therefore, the best practices related to the area of engineering in urban planning is to explore, participate and understand how the engineering elements are crucial in determining a sustainable plan in an area or any development proposal. The engineering aspects must be inculcated from the initial stages of an area's development; preparing of the development plan, control of the planning permission process and carrying out at the local authority level. The engineering aspects are the main support pillar in determining the approval of any development in order to ensure each stage is carried out sustainably for the safety and comfort of present and future generations.
BIODATA OF SPEAKER
TPr. Dr Mohamad Sabri bin Ahmad (AMP, APPM)
TPr. Dr Mohamad Sabri bin Ahmad graduated from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning in 1999 and Master of Science in Administration and Land Development from the same university in 2010. He then pursued his Doctor of Philosophy in Administration and Land Development in 2021.
Started his career in several government sectors since 1999, and currently he holds a position as Deputy Director Town and Country Planning Officer since year 2020. He has involved in state and federal government projects and among of the projects are the Land Use Planning Study Project Manager of the National Food Resource Area - The Project is ongoing and will end in September 2022 and the Carrying Capacity Study Project Manager of the Cameroh Highland - Kinta Haighland - Lojing Region (CEKAL) – The project in the preparation stage of Term Of Reference (TOR) will be implemented in 2022 until 2023.
TPr. Dr Mohamad Sabri is a Corporate Member of the Planning Organization of Malaysia and also Corporate Member of the Town Planning Board.
