Guidelines –Admission to the grade of Graduate Member
- To qualify as a Graduate member of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), you must be above 18
years of age and a graduate with an accredited engineering degree.

All graduates must possess qualifications accepted as equivalent to the IEM/BEM Graduate
Examination Part II and Part III. All list of recognised qualifications is maintained at
the Institution, and enquiry as to recognition of any particular qualification is welcome.
Those who possess qualifications not currently in the list of recognition will be required
to supply details of syllabus and course contents.

If you have obtained a first degree which is not recognised by IEM and subsequently obtained
a Master degree, you are requested to submit the scanned copy of the full transcript of both first and Master Degree.

If you had graduated from a twinning programme,
please enclose the scanned copy (one file with the above scanned document) of the following:

“Transcript of Academic Record” or “details of course and subjects” issued by the University, where you had attained your degree

Course content of your engineering degree at both the College
and the University to verify the number of years spend at the University while following this programme

If your engineering degree do not show the Division/Branch/Discipline required,
you have to provide the scanned copy (one file with the above scanned document)
of additional secondary documents (eg: result slips, Departments letter, etc.) to indicate the Discipline:
- Engineering certificates from local universities
- Certificates from overseas universities issued in foreign language must
be accompanied by an English translation obtained from University Registrar/Embassy Official, etc

“Transcript of Academic Record” or “details of courses and subjects” issued by the University, where you had attained the degree

Proposer for this Application:
- Your Proposer has to be a Corporate Member of IEM (M.I.E.M/F.I.E.M)

The Proposer is expected to certify the supporting documents to be uploaded to this
Online Application by respond to the email entitle ‘Request to be Proposer / Seconder’
which will be sent to the Proposer on the same day of Online Application submission.
